Surrounded by mountains in Guanacaste and situated on the shores of Playa El Jobo, travelers will find Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica—an upscale resort with plenty of on-site amenities and activities.
Accommodations include 447 rooms with several options for each layout. Junior suites come with a choice of an ocean, pool, or jungle view, with a further option of an upgrade to the Preferred Club. This upgrade does not make a difference to the room size or layout, but it does make a difference as to extra on-site amenities that guests can access. Master suites also come with the choice of an ocean, pool, or jungle view, but are only available in the Preferred Club. Swim-out suites are also available via the Preferred Club. Rooms are tastefully decorated and come with a private terrace or balcony, a minibar, coffee maker, room service, in-room safe, TV, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and an alarm clock with an MP3 docking station. The Preferred Club also comes with concierge service, plus bathrobes and slippers. To see the room options, watch our resort tour video at the end of this review.
A total of 8 bars/lounges and 8 restaurants (including an international buffet) can be accessed on the resort, each featuring a different cuisine such as Mexican, Asian, Italian, and seafood. To see the breakdown of the restaurants, watch our resort tour video at the end of this review.
Onsite amenities include 3 pools—the poolscape at Dreams is known to be the largest in Guanacaste—a waterside, a kids and teens club, and a fitness center and spa. Organized activities include theme nights, yoga, Karaoke, dance lessons, cooking classes, treasure hunts, and movies. A beachfront wedding venue is also available with a variety of wedding packages.
This all-inclusive resort scores high with visitors for its cleanliness, food options, and activities, as well as many of the staff going above and beyond to make guests happy. They also love the quiet beach, which is set in a private cove. As such, most visitors happily give the resort a score of 4 out of 5. Negative aspects include Karaoke nights affecting nearby rooms and a few random complaints about restaurant service. Additionally, the remote setting of the resort entails a long ride from the airport, which can be frustrating after a long day of traveling. And, it makes off-site activities and attractions a bit more difficult to access.
