Review of Wequassett Resort & Golf Club – Chatham, Massachusetts

by GO GlobeHopper

Whether you are a discerning golfer or looking for a vacation with a top-drawer experience, we have the picture-perfect spot for you.

Nestled in the Pleasant Bay area of Chatham, Massachusetts, Wequassett Resort is a classic Cape Code beauty with a poolscape fit for the Caribbean and upscale hotel rooms and suites designed to delight.

This well-earned 5-star resort boasts the best of the best including five dining options, both formal and informal.  It also features four tennis courts, an 18-hole championship golf course, and boating and watersports including instructional sailing.  Two pools on the property as well as two beaches, including the resort’s private beach called Clam Point, provide plenty of swimming opportunities for guests. In keeping with the upscale ambiance of the resort, one of the pools is adult-only for swimming laps.

Additionally, wedding facilities are available.  With this stunning resort and Pleasant Bay as a backdrop, wedding parties can be assured of gorgeous photos and an unforgettable time.

Truly, this place has so much to do onsite there’s no need to leave the 27-acre property in order to go elsewhere. However, if you’re in the mood to try a different golf course or perhaps take a shopping excursion to the boutiques of town, the resort conveniently offers van services to shuttle guests wherever they wish to go. It also provides bicycles for guests that might be in the mood to bike around the property.

Ready to be dazzled? Wait till you see the rooms! Accommodations at Wequassett are comprised of 120 individually decorated suites, all with private balconies or patios, located within individual cottages or villas dotting the waterfront. Needless to say, they all ensure impeccable views. Rooms are modern and beautifully furnished as well as immaculately clean. Surely, housekeeping is to be commended for their ongoing efforts and goal of perfection.

Wherever available, second-floor accommodations are preferable not only for the view but also to forego any noise on the ground floor.

For parents or perhaps grandparents vacationing with young children, Wequassett Resort conveniently features a kid’s club during the peak summer months of July and August. This comes in handy when adults want some alone time.

As one would expect with an upscale Cape Cod resort, the Wequassett is quite costly with an average ‘nightly’ stay ranging in price between $600-$1500 during peak season, depending on whether you opt for a garden or water view, or a room as opposed to a suite.

Meals are not included and lean toward the pricey side whether dining formally or informally. Nevertheless, the food the scrumptious and the service is top-notch, all together in keeping with the standards upheld by the rest of the resort.

PROS: The location offers gorgeous views and a feeling of seclusion.  The resort is clean and well-maintained. Rooms are charming and spacious. Plenty of on-site amenities.  Food is top-notch and service is first-rate.

CONS: Rates are quite high, the kind you would expect to pay if the resort was all-inclusive… but it’s not.  Also, the atmosphere here is one of an elite club, so guests seeking a more subtle experience might feel out of place.

If you’re a traveler that can afford the rates associated with Wequassett, you won’t be disappointed. With superior service and a bright, modern, and well-equipped complex, this place is designed to delight, pamper and please, from the moment you enter the lobby to check-in.
