Ruth’s Chris Steak House – Orlando

When in Orlando, surrounded by amusement parks and attractions, malls, big box stores and souvenir shops, and a multitude of hotels, resorts, and restaurants all lining the traffic-packed streets, it’s so very easy to overlook some gems in the midst.  One of those gems is Ruth’s Chris Steak House.  It’s but one of many in the popular chain of upscale restaurants but fully deserves to be singled out and praised.

Though Orlando boasts two Ruth’s Chris establishments, this review focuses on the 7501 Sand Lake Road location, tucked onto the end of a strip plaza.  Blink… and it’s easy to miss it.  Eat there… and its hard to forget it.  From the fast moving valet parking to the upscale ambiance of the dark wood interior, and from friendly and first class service to the exceptional taste of the food, it’s a dining experience that will tickle your fancy as well as your taste buds.

As return customers know and as newcomers soon discover, dinner plates are scorching hot considering they are heated to 500°F before leaving the kitchen. And whether your meal of choice is one of the restaurant’s choice cuts of steak, chops or seafood, it’s bound to be the most tender, fresh and flavorful you’ll ever have the pleasure of sinking your teeth into.

Despite visiting on an exceptionally busy holiday, where reservations and walk-ins alike continued to crowd into the lobby hour after hour, it was quite impressive that the kitchen managed to keep up and the serving staff remained spirited and entirely attentive while delivering meal after mouth-watering meal to the tables.

For us, that meal included New York Strip steaks cooked to perfection, along with Cremini Mushrooms and shared fully loaded baked potatoes.  While we were too satiated to consider dessert right after the meal, we did order the Chocolate Duo as a ‘To Go’ dish and ate it much later that night.  A mix of chocolate cake, light as a feather chocolate mousse, and sweet fresh berries; it looked (and WAS) far too delicious to leave behind.

Side dishes are mammoth sized and served family style at Ruth’s Chris, which works out well for patrons considering the pricey menu is a la carte.

Yes, a Ruth’s Chris Steak House dining experience is a costly one.  But it’s well worth the money if you have a little extra to spend.  If you’re tired of pizza and burgers from the amusement parks, and the heat and shoving that goes with the line-ups, then we strongly advise that you refrain from blinking as you’re traveling along Sand Lake Road, and you turn into the plaza with Ruth’s Chris tucked onto the end.  Pamper yourself for an evening.  You’ll be glad that you did.
