Costa Rica in all of its splendor has quickly become a tourist hot spot, not just for its beautiful beaches but also for its unique wildlife and eco-tours with an abundance of adventure travel packages.  These can include everything from hiking and horsebackriding to white water rafting and snorkelling.  And then there are a variety of boat tours that allow guests to explore remote regions.

Take, for example, the Catamaran Tour to Tortuga Island – a Calypso cruise of sheer beauty and one you’ll never forget, all for the low price of $145 per person.

After a 1 ½ hour drive from San José to the dock in Puntarenas and a pit stop for a scrumptious breakfast en route, you will board the 71-foot Catamaran Manta Raya for an unforgettable trip to Tortuga Island (Turtle Island). Tortuga is an island paradise with white sand beaches, coconut palms and a beautiful clear blue ocean, all located in the Gulf of Nicoya on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.  The landscape and photo ops are a photographer’s dream come true.

En route to Tortuga, as you cruise along the calm waters of the Gulf of Nicoy,a there is always a possibility of spotting dolphins, sea turtles and aquatic birds. Once at Tortuga Island you can bask on the gorgeous white sand beaches, take a swim in the inviting blue ocean, walk on the adventurous island trails or take an optional tour before enjoying a succulent lunch served with chilled white wine and live marimba music.

The Manta Raya has an expansive deck area where you can talk with friends and make new ones, as well as fresh water showers and a bow ramp allowing for an easy disembarkation directly onto the beach.

This tour includes bus transportation from San José to Calypso’s private dock, a multilingual guide, and a typical Costa Rican breakfast sServed on the way to Puntarenas.

There is complimentary service onboard Manta Raya with freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee, a selection of fresh tropical fruits, and ice cold fruit juice and soft drinks.  This is followed by elegant dining at Tortuga Island, with a four-course meal that includes a selection of salads, coconut encrusted breast of chicken in a delightful tropical sauce, steamed rice, and hot garlic bread.  White wine is also served.  The meal is topped off with a savory dessert and Costa Rican coffee, as well as live music, snorkelling and an excursion on a Banana Boat.

If you have the opportunity to visit Costa Rica, this is a side trip you don’t want to miss!
