What to Expect at Ocean El Faro – Punta Cana

by GO GlobeHopper

With so very many hotels opening in the Dominican Republic, let’s take a look at what to expect from Ocean El Faro Punta Cana, the 5-star luxury resort owned by H10 Hotels.

One of the property’s most obvious buildings is an oceanfront lighthouse, which is actually the resort’s namesake — El Faro meaning lighthouse in Spanish.

Built and designed with a colonial ambiance throughout the entire complex, the lobby is truly unique with highrise arches and a mixture of clay pots and floral artwork gracing the back wall of the check-in desk.  The botany motif makes up one of the 5 running themes assigned to the common areas. The others include:

  • Butterflies at the Privilege Desk
  • Planetarium located in the Piano Bar
  • Birds in the Library
  • Marine World in the Lobby Bar

These themes were inspired by the different departments at the Natural History Museum, and the resort has gone so far as to hang a 12-meter whale skeleton above the Lobby Bar.

Ocean El Faro resort includes spacious and airy suites equipped with:

• LCD TV
• Complimentary Minibar
• Electric coffee machine
• Free digital in-room safe
• Fully equipped bathroom with whirlpool, rain shower, double washbasin, professional hairdryer, scales, and magnifying mirror

Dark wood and white accents dominate the decor in all rooms,  with design features that maritime details such as a series of framed drawings of historic lighthouses.

The Swim-Up Junior Suites feature direct access to a pool from each terrace, and the Rooftop Junior Suites, obviously located on the top floor, come equipped with a terrace that boasts sun loungers and a Jacuzzi.

To add more options and luxury, Ocean El Faro also has Royal Masters Suites that include a bedroom and separate living area with sea views.  Swim-up Privilege Master Suites also have a private terrace with a Jacuzzi and offer direct access to a pool from the room.

As for dining options, this resort presents a whopping total of eleven restaurants, eight of which are a la carte with specialized cuisine, including  Mexican, Asian, and Caribbean to name a few.

Additionally, there is the main restaurant of El Mercado, offering a variety of dishes. And for the adults-only option, there is Blue Moon and the Pez Dama restaurants, located near the beach and known for their seafood specialties.

Guests can expect to find several bars, including five pool bars, two beach clubs, an ice cream parlor, and a specialty coffee shop with artisan pastries.

Ocean El Faro is ideal for family vacations given the inclusion of a playground, a games room, and the Daisy Club, which is an entertainment program for children between 4 and 12 years old. For guests aged 13 and up, the resort features a Teens Club, with an entertainment room that includes table football, a cinema, and a video games area.

Plus, there is a multitude of sports to enjoy, including two tennis courts, a multisports court, a bowling alley, a dive center, and a leisure center with recreation fit for all ages.  Kids will not want to miss the onsite water park which comes complete with water slides, a lazy river ride, and attractions for younger visitors.

But the facilities don’t stop there! To pamper the adults, guests can enjoy the Despacio Spa Centre, which features a hydrotherapy circuit, Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam bath.  Plus, there is a beauty salon with facial treatments available. To keep in shape despite the number of onsite restaurants, guests will find a 24-hour gym available.  If all you want to do is relax, you’re covered there as well, with plenty of quiet areas throughout the resort and a pristine beach that houses sun loungers and Balinese beds.

Truly, Ocean El Faro is a welcome addition to Punta Cana when it comes to high-end experiences, and it even includes an adults-only section of the resort called El Beso, perfect for honeymooners and couples.
