Fittingly, the hotel is located in the Harland & Wolff Headquarters and Drawing Offices. Parts of these historic buildings date back to the 1880s and the 100 years that have followed have played an integral role in the design of some of the most famous ocean liners and the creation of the ‘floating hotel’; thereby influencing the design of many of today’s cruise ships. Some of the historical spaces of the building were preserved during the development of the hotel, specifically, the telephone exchange, which is noted for receiving the first communications of the Titanic hitting the iceberg. The boardroom and director’s offices have also been spared renovation.
One of the drawing offices now hosts the hotel bar, while another has been transformed into a ballroom. To showcase the heritage features of this themed hotel, daily tours are available.
