What to Expect at Titanic Hotel – Belfast

by GO GlobeHopper

Looking for somewhere unique to stay when visiting Northern Ireland?  Here’s what to expect at The Titanic Hotel in Belfast.

Fittingly, the hotel is located in the Harland & Wolff Headquarters and Drawing Offices.  Parts of these historic buildings date back to the 1880s and the 100 years that have followed have played an integral role in the design of some of the most famous ocean liners and the creation of the ‘floating hotel’; thereby influencing the design of many of today’s cruise ships. Some of the historical spaces of the building were preserved during the development of the hotel, specifically, the telephone exchange, which is noted for receiving the first communications of the Titanic hitting the iceberg. The boardroom and director’s offices have also been spared renovation.

One of the drawing offices now hosts the hotel bar, while another has been transformed into a ballroom.  To showcase the heritage features of this themed hotel, daily tours are available.

This 4-star destination touts a memorable experience for guests as it features 119 luxury rooms – a mix of standard rooms and a variety of suites, all of which boast the ship-inspired influence that is almost steampunk in feel and look.  As an example, metal walls boast a myriad of rivets around inlaid mirrors and no-nonsense ship lights extend over the end tables in place of formal lamps.  Leather headboards complement leather chairs or love seats in a sitting area, and heavy wooden, riveted coffee tables take their inspiration from old-fashioned traveling trunks.

Stunning views, drench showers, upscale toiletries, and luxurious linens all come together with complementary timepiece furniture and the latest technology and connectivity to suit business guests as well as those visiting for pleasure.

As for onsite dining, award-winning chefs were employed to develop a unique menu of locally grown and sourced ingredients. Guests of the main dining room can enjoy views of the Titanic Belfast building and the historic slipways where the Titanic was constructed, along with sister ships Olympic and Britannic.

For privately held affairs and events, exclusive dining space is available for rent.

If you are a historian, a Titanic enthusiast, or simply a traveler that enjoys a unique place to rest your head, this hotel is a must.
