The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights will run from November 19, 2016 to January 31, 2017 and will transform Niagara Falls into a palette of breathtaking color with millions of sparkling lights and animated displays, located within the Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands, and surrounding tourist districts. The illuminations include the world’s largest Canadian-American Flag, Niagara’s iconic Skylon Tower, fifteen Canadian Wildlife light sculptures, fifty wrapped trees in Dufferin Islands, Toronto Power Generating Station Light Show, and the two-story Zimmerman Fountain. A wintertime visit to Niagara Falls during the Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights has become a tradition for millions of people from around the world.
There is no admission fee to view the illuminations but donations are gratefully accepted by Festival Ambassadors at the exit of Dufferin Islands (suggested contribution ($5 – $10 per car; $1 per coach bus passenger), with proceeds used to enhance the lights and displays.
There are fireworks, too!! The 2016-2017 Winter Fireworks Program is presented by Fallsview Casino Resort and also will begin on Saturday, November 19, 2016 to accompany the Winter Festival of Lights’ Opening Ceremonies. Our reviewers have attended the Winter Festival of Lights the past 3 years and have never been disappointed. It’s an extravaganza of color that brings extra merriment to the 8th Wonder of the World.
