Brisas Trinidad del Mar is an all-inclusive beachfront resort located just a few kilometers from the city of Trinidad, Cuba. Some of the many amenities include 4 restaurants, 3 bars, a beauty salon, a fitness center, and shops, as well as a sauna and tennis courts.
Divided into 8 separate buildings, the resort sprawls across a gorgeous palm-tree studded property with red stone pathways, leading to a beautiful beach lined with lounges under thatched cabanas. The water is clean and clear, but for a bit of seaweed that washes up on occasion. And if you wish to do more than just swim in the Caribbean, the hotel provides watersports in the form of kayaking, windsurfing, catamarans, snorkeling, and pedal boats.
The rooms are clean with cheerful decor; however, most are in need of an update as the resort is showing signs of wear and tear. As well, there are a few maintenance issues that are in need of attention. More often than not the issues do not detract from having a wonderful time, but they are noticeable.
The buffet food is good; however, in my opinion, nothing that was featured would be considered a standout dish. If you crave something more specialized than the daily buffet, the resort offers other dining options, such as Vigia, which is à la carte seafood and international cuisine. However, the restaurant requires reservations so it’s not something you can leave until the last minute. Thankfully, the tropical cocktails more than compensate for anything that might be lacking in the cuisine, as does the nighttime entertainment and the wonderful staff.
Indeed, the staff was helpful and friendly and provided first-rate service. Where the resort lacked, the staff excelled.
PROS: Budget-friendly. Rooms and clean and cheerful. Helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful grounds and beach.
CONS: In need of repairs and an update. The buffet needs improvement. Ultimately we did question the 4-star rating. Perhaps 2.5 — 3 would be more appropriate.
