Despite that Florida‘s tourism board has changed the state’s slogan to “Unbelievably Real”, the old tagline of “Florida, We Got It!” certainly still applies. After all, when it comes to things to see and do in the Sunshine State, there is a neverending list of options for travelers. The historic coast is no different, and recently announced the addition of a new cruise — Dolphin Bay Scenic Shuttle.
The scenic water shuttle carries passengers between the Vilano Beach Public Pier and the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. Along with the convenience of not driving a car and searching for a parking space, the cruise provides lots of opportunities for seeing dolphins, coastal birds in their natural habitats, and historical sites like the Castillo de San Marcos.
Because the shuttle operates daily on a set schedule, visitors can make the boat trip a highlight of their visit to the Oldest City. For example, take the morning shuttle from Vilano Beach and after an exhilarating cruise across the bay, disembark at the St. Augustine City Marina and explore the town until as late as 8 p.m. when the last shuttle returns to Vilano. There are several other convenient departure and arrival times available as well.
Staying at a downtown hotel or inn? The shuttle offers a picturesque round-trip to Vilano Beach – spend hours or the entire day soaking up the sun or collecting seashells along the beach – no car needed.
In Vilano Beach, the shuttle dock is at the Public Pier with its iconic dolphin sculptures, sunset views, and nearby restaurants. Plus, the pier is home to the legendary Blue Bird of Happiness – not to be missed! The St. Augustine City Marina is just across the street from the Plaza de la Constitucion –the heart of the city’s historic district.
Shuttle tickets are $15 per person each way and reservations are usually required. To book a shuttle seat, call 904-660-4888. For more information, visit the Dolphin Bay Scenic Water Shuttle website HERE.
