Mauna Lani – Hawaii

OVERVIEW:

Mauna Lani, located on this big island of Hawaii is Auberge Resorts Collection’s first property in the Hawaiian Islands.  The hotel reopened earlier this year following a US$200 million renovation.

Situated on 32 oceanfront acres of the Kohala Coast, the newly re-imagined luxury resort is home to 333 guestrooms and suites, five private bungalows, three pools, five restaurants and lounges, a signature spa and two top-ranked golf courses.

Here are some property highlights:

• While all guestrooms come with a private balcony, Mauna Lani Bungalows – each of which is named after a nearby mountain – feature two bedrooms, three baths, a private swimming pool and spa, and butler service.

• Restaurants include the beachfront CanoeHouse, where guests can indulge in local ingredients like freshly-caught opakapaka (snapper) and locally-raised abalone, as well as HaLani, open for breakfast and lunch and transforms at night into a modern artisanal grille.

• Cocktails and beverages can be enjoyed at the Ha Bar and in the Luxury Cabanas, while specialty coffees are also available at The Market, also serving a menu of light and healthy bites.

• The House of Knowledge in the resort lobby is where guests can learn about Hawaiian history through ‘talk stories’ with Danny Akaka, the resort’s knowledge keeper, who also leads educational tours of the resort’s ancient fishponds and petroglyphs.

• Kainalu Sports is Mauna Lani’s recreation program that’s guided by world-class athletes and includes activities like heli-biking, morning meditation, stand-up paddleboarding, and canoeing along the Kohala coast,

• The Auberge Spa at Mauna Lani has partnered with local farms to source healing botanicals for its signature treatments,

• The 5,000 square-foot fitness centre includes Peloton bikes and Precor exercise machines.

• There are two 18-hole golf courses: The South Course, a Homer Flint, Raymond Cain and Robin Nelson-designed course built on a 16th-century lava flow; and The North Coast, designed by the same trio and ranking as one of the top courses on Hawaii.

• The Holoholo Kids Crew provides young guests with hands-on activities ranging from culinary classes to moonlight storytelling and movies under the stars.

• The Francis H. I’I Brown Room, a one-bedroom suite designed for entertaining, is ideal for weddings, retreats and group gatherings
