Review of Casa Velas – Puerto Vallarta

by GO GlobeHopper

Looking for luxury in a lush setting in Mexico?  Want a hotel that consistently scores high with guests? Read our review of Casa Velas, Puerto Vallarta.

Casa Velas is an extravagant and intimate all-inclusive boutique hotel designed for Adults Only. Located on the Pacific Riviera of Mexico, only minutes from the airport, this is an exclusive retreat that has been voted among the world’s best hotels by several travel providers and travel magazines.

In addition to being so close to the airport, it is also conveniently nearby the marina, the downtown area for shopping and art galleries, as well as a mile-long boardwalk (El Malecon) – a beautiful coastal walkway and tourist hot spot featuring shops and restaurants, beachside art displays, and photo opportunities everywhere you look.  And it’s exactly the same as the resort – every direction you turn provides a reason to snap a photo and create a memory.

The reasoning behind all the resort accolades instantly becomes apparent upon entering the opulent grounds of Casa Velas. Indeed, the setting is a tropical paradise with koi fish ponds and strolling peacocks amidst stellar landscaping and gorgeous gardens as well as a picturesque poolscape of majestic palm trees and private cabanas.  The setting is positively stunning. One of the gardens supplies organic herbs to the on-site restaurants.

Dining at this resort is a highlight, with a choice of Emiliano Restaurant, the private Ocean Club for enjoying Mexican Pacific sunsets, and three specialty restaurants of the nearby Five Diamond-rated sister resort.

Other amenities include a beauty salon, a world-class spa that features a hydrotherapy area, and a well-equipped fitness center with relaxing views of the garden. Also on the grounds is an 18-hole golf course, making Casa Velas the perfect golf destination.

As for accommodations, this resort offers 80 luxury suites, furnished and decorated with typically Mexican colors and textures, and many featuring original sculptures by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante.  All suites are equipped with goose-down comforters, luxury bath products by L’Occitane, cable television, and wi-fi.

However, not all suites are designed the very same as there are lower-end and high-end suites that offer different experiences.  While some include separate living areas, others are equipped with a Jacuzzi and some feature a private immersion pool.  It all depends on personal taste, as well as budget as to which style you choose.

All suites provide beautiful views of the gardens and the golf course, which is rife with wildlife.  Be sure to ask questions ahead of time as to what your suite will include so you won’t be unprepared or disappointed.

PROS: Location. Several room and suite configurations to choose from. Beautiful grounds and views. Onsite Golf.  Top Shelf meals.  Attentive staff.

CONS: Expensive.   Very few onsite amenities.

To sum up, this luxury experience includes a clean and well-maintained property; friendly and attentive staff that will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable; gourmet cuisine; and rest and relaxation at its finest.  As a matter of fact, the resort is so private and exclusive that once you enter the gates, it’s hard to remember that the airport and Puerto Vallarta tourist attractions are mere minutes away.  However, as one would expect, accommodations like this do not come cheap. The most economical way to book this resort would be via a travel agent with a vacation package that includes flights.
